$3343 total. I took it out of the tractor and took it to them. They said it was a lot worse inside than anybody thought it was. There was what they called a "clutch cover" on the bill that turned out to be shot. I guess it was the part that the clutch pack slides in to? It would have been $1500 new,but they had another unit out back in a shed, that they had parted and it was good in that one,so they sold me that part for $200. Hard to beat a deal like that.
Now to get that beast back in there and get the splines lined up. They told me to take the rear front axle brace loose from the frame, loosen the bolts up front and put a big jack under it,then jack it up so the brace drops down so the engine slides straight in.
I put a new o-ring on the trunion and greased the daylights out of the inside of the part that slides over it. I figured that would be better than greasing the outside and getting grease on the o-ring for fear it might cause it to swell.
