Fuel tank fender question

So I have fuel in one fender and its hooked up, has shut off valve and filter in the line, how come it won't push the fuel threw the line to the tractor, but if I loosen a hose clamp on the filter or valve it comes out like crazy but as soon as I tighten them up nothing? And yes I have the valve open. Figured someone on here'd know. Thanks

Do you have a non vented cap on the main tank? If you don't it won't suck fuel from the fender tanks. Chris

I though I did, but i can check, I've never changed them same cap since I owned it, do the fender caps matter

Yes! If you don't have vented caps on the fenders, it will suck the main tank into a mess. Had one on my 1950T do that in the mid 70's.

What he says^^^.
I found when i fill the main tank first, the right fender tank next and the left tank last i have no trouble with air traps that can prevent fender tanks from draining into the main tank .

I took caps off today since I thought they were vented, they look to be, but I took them off and tried to open valve to see if fuel would come outta fenders still no luck but if I loosen a clamp it does like crazy, ow what could it be?

You gotta have a non vented cap on the main tank. It's the vacuum created when it's running that draws the fuel out of the fenders. The non vented cap is taller than the vented cap. when I put fender tanks on our 1855 one tank came with the non vented cap on it and I put it in place on the main tank.

I connected the fuel line to the fuel return on the main tank as per the pictures.

Well I just took all caps off so there was no vacuum and still no
luck, doesn't matter running or it it doesn't travel threw the line

There is a check valve in the big end of the elbow coming out of the bottom of the fenders make sure they are not in backwards.

lugged or kinked line/hose from fender to fender or fender to main tank
