I am looking at a Oliver 1550 gas with a bad engine.What other tractor engines will fit?
Anybody do an engine swap to diesel?

I have put a 770 gas and a 283 diesel in my 1555. Does your 1550 have hydra power drive? The 283 bolts in but with longer input shaft in 1550 trans the hydropower drive will not fit. You can drill new holes in frame to move engine forward or cut input shaft and PTO drive shaft to fit. You only need to have a return line to the tank to install diesel. bottom end of 232 engine is same for gas or diesel block. I now have a 1650 gas engine and is same holes in frame as the 283. I only did my engine swap because I paid $400 for 1650 gas engine that runs. Stay with a 232 CID if you want to keep it simple so 77,770,1550, 1555. Sorry so long ,Greg
