Didn't throw my money away anyway

I bought what I knew was an Oliver PTO shield at the flea market at the Oakley show today. I knew it wasn't for any of the American made tractors, but for all I knew it might have been for a mowing machine or something. I thought I'd take a chance that I might be able to make it look right on the 500. I got it home and it's the one for the 1365. I held it up to the back of it and the bolt holes line right up. It looks like if I drill another hole it would fit the 500 too. Now I'm wishing he'd had two of them for sale.

rrlund, I'm looking for a PTO shield for my 1555 if you run across one I'm interested. How much other Oliver stuff at the flea market? My wife loves flea market's and buying stuff I'll have to get a shopping list together and send her out! Greg

The Oliver stuff was kind of sparse as usual. That's what makes having them so much fun. You get to meet a lot of people while looking for parts. I talked to one of the big manual dealers about a manual for the 500. He laughed and told me that in all seriousness I had a better chance of winning the lottery. That's just a challenge to me. I just happened across that shield on a table and got lucky with what it fit.
Those 1555 shields are available aftermarket if you want one.

rrlund contact this museum in charles city ia. they have the cockshutt, oliver and I think MM manuals.

Ya,but I don't know if they'd have the one for this David Brown built. I could check I guess. It's a pretty rare bird though.
I even checked through the DB manuals at the show and the closest I could find was a DB880. This one's an 850.

I think it's found a permanent home. It bolted right up on the 1365 and looks good. It really needed one anyway since the PTO has to run all the time for the auxiliary pump to run for the loader. It always made me nervous when somebody would open a gate or something for me,then step up on the drawbar. That just might be a $30 life saver. I'll find something else to put on the 500. That's if they even had one in the first place. I can't imagine they didn't,but that tractor is still listed on the Agco parts book online and I can't find one on there.

Probably. That book I looked in seemed to show the same one for the DB 770,880 and 990 all three. I'll have to keep my eyes open in the boneyards or try to get a new one from Sparex.

My reasoning comes from a picture in the latest book by Stuart Gibbons with the history of DB.When the white DB's were introduced, a backlog of red 880's were fitted with the white sheet metal !!

Let me know if a 880 one will fit? I can post a picture of this one I think it's off a 880. I also have a pto housing with the lever attach. I will look when I go back out to the farm this week.

Brady, according to Mr Schwiebert it will not fit but thanks for the offer. Its free to post an ad on this sight if you want to. Thanks again Greg

I had a look today and the parts books I was thinking of were for a model 500 transmission over axle, if I run into one for a 500 tractor around here I'll let you know.

Thanks, I wanted to ask you about putting a dual speed PTO on my 1555 my manual says do not use lubrication tube assembly. I have a dual speed PTO off a 1650 do you just fill it with gear oil? I also asked you about my White American PTO if it was similar to any other Whites? The picture of White American PTO is at bottom of Roseboom antique power days. Thanks again. Greg
