Hi, I had my tractor at the shop to split and fix a leaking seal. While apart, I had them install new clutch disks for the pto. I bought the disk set from Korves some time ago. Got the tractor back and tried running a mower, but the pto did not stay engaged. It would run for a few minutes, then if hit a little taller grass, the pto would slip and disengage. Pulling back on the pto lever would help a bit, but would slip. The pto lever would not have that "snap" when engaging, it is very light to the touch... not the 32lbs pulling wt according to spec for the lever. It would re-engage if I lifted the mower. So this morning I attempted to adjust the pto. Removed the plate under the tractor and rotated the adjustment ring. It only slightly made any difference. It got to the point that I rotated about 19 notches on the ring, about the max possible. It helped a little bit, but still disengaged in taller grass. If I pulled back on the lever it would re-engage better than before the adjustment, but I would have to hold the lever to keep it going. There was no "snap" to the lever when engaging. And no matter where I adjusted it, the tension on the pto lever, which is supposed to be 32lbs, did not change..... it was fairly loose. Maybe only 5-10lbs would be my guess as I don't have a pulling gauge.
I took it back to the shop, but they're not sure what the problem is. Talking about installing another friction disk or two. Any ideas? Thanks!
