My little AG does not have oil pressure for between 30-60 seconds after starting. It's the Hercules 4 cylinder motor. I am just concerned. Anybody seen this before. Thanks

First question is does the pressure fall quickly on stopping the engine. If not, it could be a restricted pressure guage feed line?

Next, is it the same whether a cold start or hot restart?

Next, How long has it been this way? If for a long time it likely means there is oil lube to the bearings at start up.

Apart from that it would seem like an oil pump or oil pick-up problem. I would start with the oil pressure guage tapping point and check there with a different guage, perhaps.

certainly seen it before, where the oil line to the guage has been gunked up almost solid.

Last question is can the oil filter drain back to the sump on standing?

All questions and no idea of the actual setup, but it may give you something to think about.

Thanks installed new gauge, oil pan bent a little, so suction hose was bent up a little so we cleaned out, added one more quart of oil increasing the level. Now I only takes about 20 sec. to register pressure. I guess that's as go as it gets... Just wonder if anybody else as seen the same thing. Thanks for Advice...
