White Oliver backhoe

Well, my midlife crisis reared it's ugly head again. When I turned 50, it hit. Most guys buy a hot car, trade in wife for a younger model or buy a motorcycle too big for them. Not me!! I bought 70 acres that was my grandparents, then bought a couple of 1850's, planter, combine, 2 bins and a machine shed. Thought I had outgrown that phase of my life until today. I drove 80 miles to Buda, Ill and bought a White-Oliver backhoe. She is a little rough around the edges, but so am I. Now to find someone to haul it home. I have 1/8th mile of roadside fence grown up in trees I want to cut down and dig the stumps out of. Just one more thing I'll start and it will take a LONG time to finish.
I tried to post another picture, but for some reason it didn't work. It's a 2-62. PO thought it was a 1550, but I didn't think they had that many horses, might be a 1650?

When I got my first backhoe I was like a Kid in a sandbox. The only thing I have to say is do not under any circumstance loan it out. I did and 95% of the problems I had were when it got loaned to a friend or neighbor.

Where are you located? Neighbor bought stuff in tennesse wondered how to get it up told him theres a big equip auction in dodgeville wi its every other thurs i think . there were truckers coming to the auction from all over anyways they were more than happy to have a load to haul up it was better than empty

80 miles? When I bought my 1850 from the back row of a dealership some 50 miles away, I didn't know anyone that could haul it for me. I bought it out from under the dealer that was hoping to steal it from the owner for some needed repairs. It was missing 5th I think because it kept jumping out of gear. Turned out to be a broken fork that I replaced after getting it home. Anyway I drove the thing home on the back roads. Saw a lot of country and waved back at a lot of neighbors. It took me two days and I parked it on a farm overnight because I didn't want to travel and break down after dark. Made more than half way the first day and went back on day two for the rest of the trip home. The thing is still at work and I'll be using it tomorrow. Someday I'll have the back half you have on yours too.
