1850 pto shaft round 4 yee haw!

Thanks to all who have helped me on this ordeal. The shaft is in!!! Only downside is I feel like a complete D.A. I am used to that and the shaft is in so I am happy. Yesterday I was talking to a friend who changes tractor tires and he mentioned he was going to go into tractor repair also. I said I will give you 100 bucks if you can get the shaft in my 1850. He said he had a buddy that used to pull olivers that he would bring along. He was supposed to come this pm after he got off work. This a m I drove about 35 miles to pick up a super C farmall and some equipment I was buying from an older gentleman.Wayne called me about 10:30 and told me they had the shaft in! After I regained consciousness I said how in the #@%& did you get that *&%!# thing back in there? He said we wiggled it and wobbled and pulled it out and put it back a time or two and it finally slid in. I am still in disbelief and I checked it when I got home and its in there. I had pulled it out and put it back between 25 and 50 times and wiggled it and wobbled it every way I could think of. I guess it goes back to what Dad used to say I must have not been holding my mouth right. Thanks again so much to everyone! This will give me n Randy more time to eat when he comes down for the 127 traffic jam. lol Thanks Lee

ou shoulda wiggled and wobbled it a couple more times yourself,..i tolda you it would go in.

I hopes ye have less trouble with that other..shaft!...you know!

I'm just as happy as you are. I wasn't looking forward to being on my knees with sweat running in my eyes. LOL
Now you can her'er running so we can take it for a drive. If we were to take it down 127 we'd have to run in low gear for all the traffic.
I won't have to suffer the embarrassment of not being able to get it back in either now.

I have been following your shaft issues for a while and have wished I'd tossed in my 2 cents earlier. My first installation was a nightmare also. Since then I have installed many.

What I do is pretend I'm a precision index head on a machining center. I simply rotate the shaft in .0001 increments while pushing. It takes patience which I don't have and can take 15 minutes of frustration. Try it, it works.

Glad to hear you're plugged in and ready to go.

Sounds like that was good news for you. If your offering $100 to put the shaft in, do not advertise that too much. You will have a line of Oliver guys standing inline outside your shop.
Do not forget the 1/8 inch o-ring,plug, and snap ring.
It is too bad for Randy; there will be no bill for $135 an hour. That would have started when he left the farm.
