OK ...WE REBUILT OUR OLIVER 1800A WITH A WAUKESHA 283 DIESEL.COMPLEAT REBUILD ..ONLY PARTS NOT CHANGED WAS THE CAM AND LIFTERS ALL LIKED GOOD...WE HAVE IT FILLED WITH AMALIE 15W40 XLO DIESEL OIL CLASS CI4,CH4,CG4,CF4,CF2,CF4,CF/SL
OILS HAVE COME A LONG WAY SINCE 1961
ME BEING A FUSS POT..IS THIS GOOD TO USE..OR SHOULD WE USE A SPECIAL OIL...THAT HELPS PREVENT WEAR OF CAM SHAFT...
DO YOU NEED A BRAKE IN OIL???
WE FIRED IT UP ON THIS 15W40 AND RETORQUE THE HEAD...

The diesel rated oils still have enough zinc to protect your cam .I use 15-40 in everything I own...

Any CI4 or older still has the Zinc, CJ4 does not. My last supplier to have the older spec oil just discontinued their packaging of the CI4. I would add a break in additive to the first oil change as insurance.
