Hydra Power Over Under

Have a 1550 gas with Hydra Power working perfectly. Also have a 1650 parts tractor with very positive crankcase ventilation. The 1550 has to go for a clutch replacement. Could I put the Over Under from the 1650 into the 1550. The overdrive would be excellent for road use and some field transport. Would everything bolt up? What should I have done to OU unit prior to installation? 1650 has not run for 10 years or so. I have no idea if it works. a
As I said, the HP is perfect. I changed the oil and filter in it. Any way I can check the OU unit? I am paying shop rates for this hobby. All answers appreciated.

Are you doing the swap? Also remember most likely the 1550 will have the top mounted cooler and the 1650 will have the front mounted cooler for one thing. So all the lines, etc. will also need to be changed. How many hours on the 1650? Do you know if anything was ever done to the over under unit? Do you have pressure gauge and a good old 1/2 inch slow speed electric drill so you can run it on the bench. Lot of little things I can think of. You have e-mail? J.

All tractors with the O/U had the button clutch, thus a different flywheel with a deeper recess for the pilot bearing and a longer input shaft.  For sure you are going to have to shorten the input shaft and turn some splines off for the clutch pilot bearing.
I have a friend that has an early 1650 that has a O/U drive installed.  The shift rod now works backwards, pushing in slows it down.

It'll bolt right up and drop right in. Input shaft does not need to be modified. If you are lucky and have a late enough 1550 it could have the front mounted cooler, in which case the lines are already there. If not, use the lines and coolers out of the 16. You can install the shift linkage out of the 16 or use the push pull rod that you have now. The linkage is honestly kind of a pain to change over. It'll be more difficult pulling it out of the 16 than it will be to install in the 15.

If you have to switch coolers, you'll need to do some adapting to hook your hydraulic cooler lines to the later style cooler. It's easy to do.
