Hello All, How many HP is the 1600 and how does it "surpass" the 880 (which I have)? Seeking to upgrade...Thanks in advance.

Well, when they came out, guys with 880s bought them and went back to the dealer complaining that they wouldn't out pull the 880s. A ways in to production they went to bigger pistons in them. Oliver then offered to put larger pistons in the early ones to boost up the power. Some were upgraded before they ever left the lot. If it has the big pistons, probably more power than the 880,if not, maybe not.

True only for the gas engines. Diesel engines were always the same size and we had very few power complaints on the diesel models. Get a serial number if you can as there were changes made in them in the winter of 63-64. The newest 1600 is now 50 years old!

Back in the day we had a 1800 A series gasser and a 1600 gasser, and here in north MO we pulled 5/16"s with both, and that 1600 did a fantastic job, not quite round for round, but didn"t get passed very often.
