1650 pto lever

My PTO lever is on the R side. When using it with the NH 404 Crusher I would push the lever full forward, and it would slip into the detente locked position. When I lowered the crusher to the ground with the R hydraulic lever, the PTO lever would pop out of the detente position and I would have to hold it in to keep it engaged. If I lowered the crusher with the hydraulic lever to only part way down, the PTO lever would stay engaged. What is going on here? Needless to say it was a PIA when crimping lodged alfalfa, having to hold in the PTO lever and needing to frequently raise the crusher out of the lodged crop to keep rollers from slipping.

No, it seems like the motion is normal with the hydraulics raised, the detente seems a good hold, and no slop in the lever.

The lower the crusher goes down the more strain on the PTO which when its reaches a certain point it puts enough strain to pop the lever back because most likely its not going completely over center.Check the linkage for wear and for a bent rod I had to have the PTO engagement parts beefed up a few years ago on my 1650.
