going to look at oliver 18 pull combine, need advice

Looking at an oliver 18 for small 2-5 acre plots of beans, wheat, oats. what are the areas on the machine I should inspect most carefully. AND if anyone has recently purchased one, what are these things selling for in the midwest. Fella says it is in good shape, asking $1,000

well we own an 18 combine and we are kind of in the process of restoring it. i would check to make sure that all the bottom shields for the chains are in shape because ours are all rusted, even the grain tank was rusted out. it would be a plus if you could run it before you buy it just so you can see or hear for any problems, ours had a bearing out on the main pulley so we have to remove around 7 belts before we got to the pulley.

For $1000.00 it should be in immaculate condition.
Check all areas as Jordan said plus the bottom of the grain tank where the auger lives and the bottoms of the elevators, those areas like to rust out.
