1550 update

Took the pump off today. Boy was that a job. Two of the three nuts that have to come off to remove the pump were easy. The third tool me an hour. Had to make a wrench-you just can't get anything on it-at least that I own. Injector shop confirmed what diesel tech indicated was the problem. Made it sound like no big deal and a very common problem. So I was hopeful for a low cost repair. Current estimate is $575 to $600. They will let me know when they get into it. Said I would have it back in 3 or 4 days so I can't complain about that. I do think its going to be tough getting it back in also. Again thanks for all the comments and assistance. Hopefully this solves the fuel problem and I can worry about the low oil pressure and the hydraulic leak.

Is that at idle speed or wide open? What oil do you use weight wise? What is the oil pressure when you first start it at rated RPM?

About 25 pounds at start up cold, not at full rpm but well above an idle. The 8-10 pounds is when warm and at working rpm. I have 30wt in it currently with a little STP type stuff.

Are these readings from the original gauge installed on the tractor?? I would get a good gauge with 270 sweep and connect it and see what you get. I have seen where those cheap gauges installed on tractors take 15 psi before they even start to read!!

It is an inexpensive replacement gauge that"s for sure. Although it reads about the same as the rusty old one did. I did get my pump back from the injection shop today. Took it in Wednesday at noon and they called today at about 1 to say it was done! Awesome service. While not cheap it was half of what most said it would likely be. I was pretty a happy with $595. If you ever need them it is Pacific Injector Service in Portland OR. Also Midwest Fuel Injection in IL and IA along with MA, PA, and CT. You all probably already know this.
