2-105 white over heating problem

Hey guys I recently bought a 2-105 white tractor. When I cut hay on 90 degrees or hotter days the tractor runs hot. I have removed the side skirts which helps some. The needle on the temp gauge stays touching the edgeb of the red. I have heard several guys say that is just the nature of the 2-105 white 354 perkin as long as it aint In the middle of the red mark. Just doesent seem right to run that warm. It is full of coolant and the radiator is clean. I dont think the tractor has ever been turned up but dont no for sure. The tractor does lightly lightly haze black smoke when running at pto speeds. But I was also told that was normal but idk? Was wondering if there is any tricks to help it run cooler on 90 degree and above days. The tractor is in good shape and has been very well taken care of. If anyone knows anything I would greatly appreciate it Thanksand GOD BLESS

First thing I would do is buy a cheap meat thermometer to check coolant temp. Then you will know if gauge is correct.Thermostat could be bad,Cooling system needs flushing,Radiator all limed up.Those are things to start with.

The coolant thats In the tractor right now looks good and clean. But that is my plans for this weekend is to flush everything and try to find a cooler thermostat and replace it. I hope I can figure it out or find a way to help it run cooler. I am gonna try the thermometer thing this evening if I get a chance. Like I said the tractor runs normal temp if just piddling around but when I cut hay or use it hard in temperatures above 90 is when it runs hot.

Check clearance between fan and shroud, and the foam sealing between the shroud and housing, you need to get ALL the air the fan is pulling through the core. There are fans with more blades from different variations and serial breaks. You have to check diameter when doing that.

I checked the fins they are fine they are not bent and should flow good. The fan shroud it seems to be sealed good and the fan sits right in side of it like it should as far as I no. I am going to look into a better fan that pulls more air. I looked into getting a cooler thermostat but I could only find a stock one. I am gonna try the thermometer thing when it runs hot the next time. I am looking into putting a new gauge. Hope fully its nothing major but just dont like the thought of it running on the hot side. Would like ro figure it out. There isent many white/oliver guys around here to help me figure it out. Just has me wondering cause everything has been very well maintained and in good shape. I am gonna try contact the previous owner to see if it ever ran warm on him.

Ok guys I have about had it with my white. Seems like all the agco dealers around me have no idea what they are talking about. I decided to take my tractor apart and inspect the thermostat which come to find out has two of them. When I pulled the houseing off one was stuck open and one was shut I called two agco dealers and they said it calls for 2 180degree thermostats same exact thermostats so I bought them put them in put it all back together started it up and it was like the thermostats where not opening. So I got ahold of a White shop manual and it calls for 2 different thermostats calls for a blanking bypass thermostat for the left side and a normal for the right side. No one seems to know what im talking about its getting real frustrating. If anyone knows anyone that knows there way around 2-105 whites or knows a good place to buy parts that knows what there talking about. Please let me know it would be greatly appreciated my cell number is 1-573-692-2202 Thanks

The thermostats I pulled out was a Waxstat c84 and a Waxstat
b84 I believe the C84 is what I believe there calling the bypass
thermostat in the white book. If anyone has any cross referance numbers that would be great. I am gonna call around tomorrow to see what I
can find out. Couldent get much done today being a sunday and
no one open. Just wanna get the thing figured out and done
right lol. Seems like stuff like this has to happen when you need
the tractor most like Haying time. Nothing can never go easy.
Life on the Farm Lol

You have a tractor 35 years old. It is likely that the inside of the rad just has buildup on
it and doesn't cool like it used to. I have a 25 yr old truck that on a hot harvest day you
blow out the rad every couple of hrs and watch the temp gage. Try cutting a gear slower and
see if it stays cooler. It is likely that you have to renew the rad or lighten the load so it
stays cooler.

That might be true. But the non bypass thermostat was stuck open which had to contribute to it somewhat. With it being open it would never let the coolant cool down In the radiator and just keep cycling so eventually it goes to running warm. But now I have to try to locate the left bypass thermostat then I hope I will be in good shape. But like I said know one seems to know what im talking about. I sure hope the radiator aint getting stoped up $800 for a new one. Looking inside it it looks nice and clean no calcium build up or rust that I can see but most of it could be on bottom too.
