Super 55 headgasket

I am looking at a catalog with a valve grind gasket set listed for the Super 55. It states it's for the 3 3/4" bore. My Super 55 is a '57 that I believe is a 3 1/2" bore without taking it apart. Will the larger bore head gasket work properly on my tractor?

I have a sticky #4 exhaust valve and have tried every snake oil fix there is. It's time to yard the head off and just get the guides cleaned out and a valve job done.

Thanks in advance,

Stumpy

I would not use that gasket. The original size gasket should not be hard to find. Korves Oliver probably has them in stock. Many parts stores should be able to get them also. Your old gasket should have the number stamped on it. I would get the head resurfaced also and ask them to take .04-.05 off. That will help the compression some.

The 4 metal rings that go around the sleeve in your gasket must accurately fit. If it does not fit right, it will not be long before it fails.

You need a Victor 1876 head gasket. It is the O E gasket used on the Super's and the 3 digit 3-5/8 inch bore engine. Rudy has them CARQUEST has them and I know of other sources. Napa does not have the Victor line anymore.
