Anyone ever do power steering retrofit on an super 55? That is without the loader? Interested in how you went about it if you did. If any of you have an ideas I"d like to know. I"ve been on the Jacksons site and saw what they have but am without the loader. It runs off the loader pump.

Can I get around this with a power steering pump off a truck or car and make it work? Just thinking here. Power steering would make this tractor even better.

A couple of years ago I put one on a 550D without a loader. I got a hydraulic pump from John Deere combine and a reservoir from a Chevy Astro van. It is a small pump that I was able to mount between the alternator and water pump and use a longer belt to run it. The reservoir was mounted on the fuel filter on the right side of the engine. The steering works great, can turn the wheels with one finger with the engine idling. There are other changes that have to be made to his directions but they are simple. Any more questions contact me on this forum. I check it every night.

The power steering pump, on the S55, is mounted to the back of the generator and is driven by an extended armature shaft. The pump was manufactured by Vickers. Kent Gordon (903 729-8349) is my go to guy for S55 parts.
