keyway repair?

Looking at a used rotary mower to use with my 1650.Its in decent shape except the keyway on one of the gearbox shaft to u-joint yokes is about to strip out.I know the yoke will probably need to be replaced,but do you guys know if i can repair the shaft keyway?

If you take the shaft out any machine shop could mill a new keyway in another location. Directly opposite if the yoke has a through-bolt or pin.

So a new keyway could also be milled on the yoke?

In the you're it would need to be broached, and not all shops do that. I would personally worry that the bore and shaft are worn and would quickly cause issues again. The shaft can be built up and turned, the yoke if worn, I'd replace with new.
