Perkins injector

I need a new injector for my 1850 but no one can help unless I pull the injector out and send it off somewhere...there has to be someone that can sell me an injector? Anyone have any ideas or contacts?

First of all there are probably at least 20 different injectors for an a 354 Perkins. What is the problem with your old one? Have you tested it? How do you know that maybe all you need is a tip?

Can you see the number on it? I have a couple NOS injectors and will look at their number but will need to know yours and see if its a match.

I looked and I have 2 of one type and 3 of another. If any one else is interested I just picked up many new old stock parts. Many gasket sets, and gaskets, some Tac's, cables, gauges and other stuff. mostly for Oliver 60,70, 77, 88, 1250,1350,1550, 1650, 1850 and others. If you are working on one of these email me as I may have some of what you need. [email protected] Irv

Had it tested at the local JD dealer, sprayed fine but that doesn't mean its good. Tractor misses / knocks at high RPM's when hot and cracking #2 injector line makes it stop knocking immediately. Engine has fresh rebuild, not much else it can be...

Thanks, would have bought one from ya but ended up going with Spencer Diesel out of Iowa, they seemed to know what I need and had it in stock...Thanks anyways

Would you post after you put the new injector in? If you thought it was the number 2 injector and you had it pop tested, why not just switch 2 with another like 4 or 6.
Can not quite undstand your logic on this problem. But I still hope the injector solves your problem.

Misses/knocks on a rebuild? May want to verify two injector lines are not crossed if the injector checks OK. Not common, but have seen this happen on other engines with the same trouble, and lines were not rebent to make it happen. That pump turns counterclockwise at the drive end, so the line end will be clockwise. If # 1 is correct, then trace 1,5,3,6,2,4 clockwise to make sure they are right. Also, has the injection pump and drive been updated to the uprate type like later Perkins use? The early quill drive shaft and/or pump hub are known to break apart on the 1850. Early MF 1100 had the same drive, but had a lower high idle and did not break like some 1850s did.

My logic is for $77 why not try it, I know my injector lines are right, I know the cylinder/head is good, a rotary style pump can't hardly make only one cylinder miss, what else can it be...

Looks like I was wrong...put new injector in #2 same problem...I'm stumped here...I put old #2 injector in #6 and put #6 in #2 hole, same thing...can't be injector. I have talked to 2 different injector pump rebuilders both said it can't be injector pump. What else is there? Can a bad pump drive gear be affecting only one cylinder? Mine is a '69 model, weren't the later ones less likely to have drive gear issues?
