what do yous put on a head gasket when putten on the head or just put down dry its a 1655 diesel sweaten oil on the right side started in the back and worken its way to the front. the new on i got is agco. thanks

I think it is best to put them on dry, have the head planed a little, clean the top of the block real good, run a tap in the bolt holes to clean them up, put a little light oil on the threads and under the bolt heads and torque them down, then work to get it up to operating temp., then re-torque it. Doing the re-torque is a pain, but worth it. Chuck

First of all now would be a good time to install seats in the head and get the valve protrusion set to the right specs. Also some of the torque values for some of the direct injection engines also changed. We used a thin bead of 3M EC 847 cement around the push rod holes.
