8.3 Cummins

I stumbled across an 8.3 takeout from a Ford F650 this week that was pretty much new and drug it home today. No specific use for it at the moment but wanted to start looking for the parts/pieces needed to get it ready to drop in a tractor if a good donor comes along. What do I need to be thinking about doing to the injection pump to get it ready for tractor use? I went through this a year or 2 ago on a 5.9 with a rotary pump, but have no idea what needs to be done with an inline pump on an 8.3 to change it from truck use to tractor. Thanks in advance.

No doubt it just has a governor to limit maximum RPM. You will need a variable speed governor. Get the CPL number as well and see how the engine is set up.

If it came out of a F-650 it isn't likely an 8.3 or it was installed by the owner. The 8.3 was only in the F-750 if my memory isn't letting me down.
