1755 Snap Ring

I have my power steering cylinder out of my 1755, and I have the pinion out of the cylinder. I want to take the puller bolt and thrust washer out of the inside of the pinion, but I don't know how to handle that snap ring; it has no holes in the end for me to grab it with my pliers.

Any tricks or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If it is the kind that I am thinking of, one end comes to a point that gives you room to work a screwdriver under it enough to get a second one in and then chase it around.

The PTO bearing on Fords has the same type of ring, hard to get out so I put a hole in it for next time. But that's cast iron. That gear may be case hardened unless the ring groove is well above the top of he gear teeth.

Thanks. That is what I was doing and just
wondered if there was a better way. I'll
give that another shot. Thanks again.
