Super 55 questions

Have just bought a super 55. It came with an original parts book from 57. My question is what other book would be the best for service and use? Not liking the IT books as they are well like cliff notes. If there is any that you guys can say are the best let me know.

Also the tractor is missing the center grill piece. Not sure where anyone would get one. Any thought?

Operator's manual for use and workshop manual for repairs above and beyond routine maintenance (in the operator's manual). Take your choice.

Ed, here is the manual set you will be wanting. It tells you step by step. It's pricey, but if you don't have a lot of experience it will pay for itself, I know, it's been extremely helpful for me. I have an original, and the pictures are much better, but the copy will get you by.
Super 55 Service Manual

Thanks guys for the help on the manuals. Will have to look them over and see what is the best.

I did look for the center plate for the grill but everywhere I look they are either discontinued or not stocking this part. Someone mentioned Korves but they don"t have either. Not sure where one can be found.

Have another question about hydraulics. What did Oliver use for connection ends. I believe I have Pioneer ends on the Farmall that I have. I had to switch them out because the Farmall ends weren't available. I'm not sure what's on the tractor They look original but I can't tell.

If you have Pioneer ends on the other tractor/s, I'd put the same on this one. Makes it a lot easier to switch implements.

Thanks. O thought about it and I'll have to see how they come off and what I can do to make them work.

Another question, missing top link for the three point. What cat size is the 55 1 or 2? I know it's not cat 0 but not sure on it's exact size. Did a search on spec's but it isn't listed.

I believe that is category 1.

For that center strip, there's a guy here in Michigan I believe reproducing those. His number is two three one 8 four three 89 nine one.

Yes that guy has them. He took the center grill section off his tractor and had press dies made for it. He has some 40 of them made. Price is very reasonable too. He was surprised that someone mentioned him on this site. Will have to get one right away. Thanks for the number.
