hay set complete

finally got a complete Oliver haying set, granted I'd still like to get a crimper and haybine but for now a sickle, rake, square baler will do. (the rake was last piece to the puzzle)

those crimpers are hard to find, we were lucky someone close by us had one for sale. also like the 62-t with the kicker, i always wanted an oliver 720 baler with a kicker.

Sooooo- did some little kid get in trouble many years ago for painting his name on that shed behind the rake? LOL

I used an Oliver crimper (we called it a "hay conditioner") back in the '60's- had a heckuva time with it to start with, the grass kept winding up on the steel roller. I spent half my time under it, with a pocket knife. Finally discovered, by accident, that you couldn't let the grass get any wilt on it- had to run it right behind the mower. I had been mowing awhile, then catching up with the conditioner. So mowing and conditioning became a 2 man job.

I think they were designed to be pulled by the mower- is there a PTO connection on the back of that mower? But we were using a JD 3 point mower, so couldn't do that.

Nice set. The mower and rake are of Cockshutt design. The mower was a Cocskhutt 315 and the Rake a 311. Both cane out in about 1957 or 58. The baler is pure Oliver though. We had a Cockshutt 620 back in the 70 and 80's which was the newer model. Baled a lot of hay with it.
Enjoy the set!

I check craigslist daily somtimes twice a day, and this one happened to be local, 1/2 hr drive from home. it ain't in to bad shape, theres a few booger weld jobs and the hitch is bent. for the price it was pretty good and can't beat the fact that it was close.

don't recall if I got in trouble for that or not dad got it for my chickens so I think I was safe haha

yes the mower does have rear pto, the hitch on it is a farmerized welded on one, would like a picture of a factory hitch so I could replecate it.

heres a picture of our crimper, we have a 315 sickle mower, this 95 crimper, and a 60-t baler. we also know were a rake is just waiting for them to sell it.

Very nice looking Oliver's! I run a 207 rake and 620 baler.
Get along with both pretty well, but parts are getting g hard to find. Agco wants $73 each for tine bearings on that 207, and the parts guys run away when I want baler parts.
