I have a chance to purchase a 1950 Oliver. The serial number is 152-020-415 and the model number is 195-8216. The owner stated that he had paperwork regarding an engine rebuild several years ago. The Hydro-Power is supposed to be good. The transmission is the problem. Supposedly the transmission seal around the shaft that powers the transfer case leaked oil into the transfer case and out the breather, leaving the transmission low on oil and causing some damage. We do not know the extent of the damage until we tear into it. The tractor has not been started in 2-3 years, but the owner said it would run well and the tractor could drive on a trailer. The rubber is new on the front and poor on the back. Rear tires are 23.1x34. Overall appearance of tractor is fair. What is a fair price to offer? Is there any commonality of parts between the 1950T and 1955? I need help on the extent of the transmission damage or possible damage. I feel the tractor was shutdown when the problem was discovered. Are parts still available for this machine? My residence is in Wisconsin. Where can parts be found? We have had Oliver/White tractors since 1951 and never had more than a shifting fork problem with any of them. I would like to restore this machine.
