Have a 453 detoit diesel[turbo]that keeps blowing oil out the front seal.Changed out the seal once, and then replaced the whole front cover where the seal/oil pump is.Now about 200 hrs later, same problem except way worse this time.Engine has about 7000 hrs on it but is used in very dusty conditions. It runs ok but is starting to emit light blue smoke when idling.Would blowby from a broken ring or something else cause this?

rrman61,you may have excess clearence in the oil pump or the front main bearing you may need to put in a sleeve and oversized oil seal, also check the runout at the front of the crankshaft,if you are running a turbo you may have excessive CC pressure from blowby, plugged air box drains shouldn"t cause the problem but it will cause it to collect excessive oil in the air box.Al
