1550 3-point

Have my pto clutch working well (at least for now).Changed the hydraulic fluid and the transmission oil. So I should be up and running. I have had an issue with the 3point since I got it. Works fine, lifts and lowers. But, it doesnt lower far enough for me. Once in a while it will go down to maybe 6" off the ground. Most of the time it goes down to about even with the drawbar. At times it will go lower and then go right back up to even with the drawbar. Since most of my implements are on the smaller side it would be great to get it to lower further. Is there a trick?

I don't know if turning the turn buckle in the linkage from the control lever would help or not? Maybe the draft control sensor on the left side?

You need to maintain a minimum of 1 inch of free travel in the upper lift links when they are all the way in the raise position. If not adjust your turnbuckle that RR is talking about. A word to the wise: 90% of the time when those got out of adjustment the 2 5/16 inch cap screws holding the quadrant to the hydraulic housing have worked loose. Be sure to check them. J.

thanks I will will check all you have suggested. Always something. On the way from the shop to the barn it is stored in it started running poorly and the rpm dropped off a bunch. No matter what I did with the throttle is kept dropping off. Finally the tractor quit. I restarted it easily and it ran great with plenty of throttle response. Didn't miss a beat after that. It has done this now a couple of times. Always runs fine after restart. So, where do I start on this problem?

The problem almost certainly lies in either the fuel or ignition system.

Good to know whether gas or diesel. Would start guessing that it is gas, but I like things narrowed down before piling in with useless suggestions.

In that case it will be the fuel system!

Blockage, probably in the bottom of the tank which can float away when the fuel lift pump stops?
