1850 engine oil

just curious as to what engine oil you guys run in your diesel olivers. Im servicing my 1850 with a 354 perkins diesel. just curious as to what brand and weight of oil you all use.

Would like to hear this too. I have a good 1655 diesel with 300 hours on a rebuild. Runs good and I have been using Rotella 15w-40. Oil pressure is a little slower to build on cold starts than I would like

I heard they reduced their ZDDP content in this oil and that it will ruin flat tappet valves. They say the synthetic rotella t6 5-40 is a better alternative. Im thinking about switching, but havent decided for sure. Not sure 5-40 is thick enough for an older engine, but that does seem to be the trend.

Go to your local Independent oil distributor who handles Service-Pro products. Their SP27085P (5g pail only)is 15w-40 with the old SI-4 spec that still has the zinc in it. Goes in everything on our place from the HG to the 4-175.

I've always run Kendall Super-D SD3 in my 1850 and 2-135 both.

In the diesels, I run Mobil Delvac 15-40. I get it in 5 gallon buckets.
