2-105 fuel tanks

I recently bought a 2-105 White tractor. So far, it seems like a good machine. The problem I have is that with both the upper and lower tanks full of fuel, the tractor will completely empty the upper tank and run out of fuel and die. It never pulls a drop of fuel out of the lower tank. I don't know how this fuel system works. Maybe I'm just not seeing a dual fuel tank switch over valve or a switch? Any help would be appreciated.

Depending on the year of your tractor. Fuel is drawn from the lower tank to upper by vacume. earlier models have a fill cap on both tanks with a check valve in fuel line, the lower tank uses a vented cap and the upper usses a non vented cap. as fuel is drawn from the upper tank vacume is created which draws the fuel to the upper. Later units just had the fill on top tank and I'm not familiar with them. If you have the two fill system check to make sure caps didn't get switched.

Agree with Vernon. I too have an early 105 that I couldn"t get the siphon to work correctly. I gave up, shut off petcock to lower tank, put vented cap on top tank, and just use the top tank.

since your upper tank empties first your tractor probably doesn't have the syphon systlem. Most likley your lift pump on the right side of the engine isn't pumping. the top tank empties by gravity the lower tank is too low.
