Manifold Question - 1850

My Oliver 1850 gas had a very wobbly exhaust pipe exiting the manifold causing the muffler to just flop around the opening in the hood. Gave it about a 1/2 turn with a pipe wrench and it came right out. Now the bad news -- the threads in the exhaust manifold are very worn. Think there is any chance just threading in a new 2.5" stub pipe will work? Is there a way to fix/replace the threads? Don"t really want to spend a bunch of money either. A new exhaust manifold runs about $200 (not terrible) but I have been told you pretty much have put on a new intake manifold too because you either can"t get the old one apart or they won"t match up to the new castings. Anybody ever had luck using original intake? Are new intakes even available? I searched online and didn"t see any listed anywhere. Any suggestions or ideas on how to proceed?

Go to a plumber and see if you could rent a pipe thread tap and rethread the manifold right on the tractor.A new pipe should thread in and be good. Be sure to vacuum out any metal after threading.Done this many times and it works well.

We use a tap and re-thread them, and they work good however unless your doing multiple manifolds a decent tap will cost almost as much as a new manifold.
