4440 mechanical lift

In need of some help. I bought a mechanical
lift 4440 and I am pulling it with the hitch
set for my 950 to be onland. I am leaving a
trashy furrow, plowing approximately a 6 inch
furrow, new chins shares and land slide and a
decent coulter. The coulter is directly in line
with the point of the share. Any pointers?

Do you have cover boards? I think they are a must have. Either cover boards, or jointers. I think the cover boards work better. Do as Posse said and set the coulter to run 3/4 inch outside of the point cut and just deep enough to cut through sod, or what ever you are plowing down.

Cody, I have 2 cover board brackets off my 3241 that I don't need. I think they will fit but not sure. Email me if you can use them. Chuck

the pictures below are of the plow I am asking about the. hitch has been moved from where it is in the picture all the way to the right where the spot is that has no paint. I was told that was correct for an "onland" set up. do I have to move where the draw bar connects to the plow frame also? I have a book coming but I don't think it will make it before my plow day...

Above advice on coulter position is correct.
You would be much better off if you ran the tractor in the furrow. The point where the plow hitch connects to the tractor should be 28 or less inches from the prior furrow wall pass to get a decent line of draft on a 4 bottom. When I worked with them 6 bottom and larger were the only ones that would work half way decent with the tractor on land.
The photo with the hitch closer to the furrow wheel is where I would start with the tractor in the furrow, other wise there is so much pressure on the landsides that they can't hold the plow straight.
My phone # is five seven four, two four three, five seven five one, if you would like to hear more reasons.

The 950 I am pulling it with has 23.1x26 tires on it I have been told that tire is too big to put in the furrow maybe I am wrong thinking that??
