1800C carb opinions?

The carb on my 1800C needs some TLC its the USX37 aluminum carb. one screw is boogered up and don't think i'll be able to get it out and pretty sure it needs that diaphram pump thats on the inside of the bowl cover. A friend of mine says those aluminum carbs are junk. So I wanted to know what others thoughts are. If I should fix that carb or replace it with a cast iron one and if so witch one?
thanks for the help

Nate, I have had one on my 77 for more than 20 years and it always starts and runs perfectly and the fuel economy is pretty good. the 77 uses less than 2 gallons per hour pulling 3-14s in 5th gear with the plow set at about 8" deep. I would rebuild it if possible. Chuck

This is going to sound like a political speach by talking out of oth sides of my mouth. I like those aluminum carburetors. Soe parts are available from Agco. M-S will tell you in there carburetor catalog if they do not have it, go see your friendly Deere dealer. Any questions e-mail me> I would machine the housing for a straight thread O-ring plug so I could check the float setting.

changing subject seen your videos more like 4ins. deep 5th gear way too fast, throws soil way too far!!poor plowing job the way i see it
