Sorry for another topic so soon but I am assembling my tractor and the ring, pinion, planetary and brake shafts that have the bull drives are from a parts tractor. Mine is a 1950. I'm estimating the parts tractor as a 46-48. I knew the brakes are different but didn't care, I really just needed ring and pinion so I was going to use the drums from my original tractor... Wrong. There is something different, the brake hubs don't go all the way on before hitting the bolts that hold the oil seal and gear set. Also the nut that holds the brake drum on is too large for the older shaft. Does anyone know if I can just pull the shaft and swap out with a newer style? Or do I need a complete new matching set? The reason I rather not use my old shafts is because a couple of teeth on the bull drive are chipped pretty bad.
As for the PTO question, my tractor did not come with the side pulley (when I inherited it) the parts one did, I pulled the pulley and gear to install on mine but noticed that the gear on my shaft is a bevel cut (like a pinion gear, and the one that was in the parts tractor is a cone with straight teeth. Is there any out there with the bevel gears so I can install this on my tractor or do I need to disassemble my front gear box to swap the drive gear?
