Questions on 2-105 White tractor

Hey guys I just recently bought a 1977 White 2-105 field boss tractor. It has 4600 hours on it but has been taken care of. This is my first White and was wanting some info about them. Like how many hours can i expect to get out of the 354 Perkins? It has the over and under tranny I was wanting some Info on it so I don't use it the wrong way and tear something up. Was wondering what your opinions where far as the pros and cons on the 105s. And if there is anything to watch out for on them. Or anything that needs improving on them to make them better. Is there a good place to buy a service/owners manual? Also I am looking for loader brackets and a loader for it also. Thanks

based on your question you have never owned an oliver either. so 354 perkins are really nice motors, massy used them alot back in the day, and if memory serves me right a 105 is turbocharged so can't go wrong there. we own an oliver 1850 which has the same motor and we turbo charged it and as far as i know my father has nevered replaced the rods and pistons and he has had it since 85. with the over-under i can't think of any ways you can really use it the wrong way. its on the go shifting so just put the transmission in one of the 6 forward or 2 backwards gears and use the over-under within those gears, however if you are pulling a big load with the 105 get into the rythem of stepping on the clutch as you shift up on the over under, its not necessary but it is a lot smoother transition. overall the 2-105 is a really nice tractor and i can think of any real cons to them. for a manual i would contact the floyd county museum in charles city iowa they have alot of service manuals and build codes from the old oliver-white plant.

There a good tractor, they're very efficient, only thing I will say
on over under dont let it drag when going form high to direct in
6th for sure even 5th I don't put in direct from high when
slowing down, I go right from high to low when slowing down
so it doesn't drag you'll see what I mean when you drive it,
don't think you gotta worry about that in 1st through 4th gear,
6th is the biggest worry.

On the over/under you need to be aware that the tractor will
free wheel in "under" so the tractor can coast going down hill
with no engine braking. "Direct" and "over" act as any normal
gearing giving you engine braking so taking loads down hill
the hydral shift should be in one of those gears.

Thanks for al the replys. And I have never owned an oliver
either. I am only 22yrs old and the only tractors my dad had is
fords and John deeres. I just done some studying and the
white 2-105 and 2-110 really caught my eye for the budget I
had. I really wanted a 2-110 but there harder to find. But there
is things about both of them I like. I ran across this 2-105
locally I no I over paid for it but I no who owned it so that
means alot. I gave $12,500 but it is a nice tractor for a 1977
model. I have always wanted to buy a non cab 1850 diesel
oliver so this is fairly close lol. Maybe one day I will find a good
deal on one.
