Oliver 1750 Antifreeze in Oil

I just bought an Oliver 1750. The tractor seemed to run fine but did have quite a bit of blow by. I cracked the oil drain plug and noticed some antifreeze came out. I ran the tractor a little longer and let it sit over night. The next day I cracked the drain plug again and found the same antifreeze issue. Any ideas where the antifreeze may be coming from? Did the 1750 have problems such as head gasket? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Oh yes, it most likely is the sleeve o-rings. I have an Oliver 1750 and have had multiple issues with this. I've replaced them as often as 2 years after being redone. The last time a mechanic said that a machinist will cut down the surface on the block where the 0-rings on the sleeve meet the block and insert a new surface ring/liner so when the sleeve with new o-rings are pressed in, they will have a new surface to seal on. It has been 2-3 years now and is okay, no antifreeze in the oil pan. I'm a loyal Oliver fan and this multiple occurring problem really upset me and wanted to discard this tractor but, I guess loyal Oliver fans do not do that. How about a serial number? About 500 of the diesels used a little different block.

One thing you can be sure of - it is from the cooling system!

There are only a few places, in any engine, at which coolant can leak into the oil.

It could be a head gasket; a cracked or porous casting - head or block; a low pressure oil cooler through the rad; failed liner O ring seals; core plug leaking; push rod tubes; cracked or porous liner. Might be one or two others I have forgotten and not all are appropriate to this tractor.

The most likely failure on this tractor is the O ring liner seals.

Seems like pan off, and pressurise the cooling system if necessary, to spot the source of the leak. Hope it is a core plug in the head, if they are present. If they are, only removal of the rocker cover, not the sump, would be the easier starting point.

Engine bearings may well need to be checked out anyway, as antifreeze in the oil soon destroys them.
