1550 diesel single speed pto

I had a chance today to look at the pto. Thought the clutches were probably stuck but they were not. The problem has been that the pto is "in gear" no matter the position of the ingagement lever. So I might be able to adjust it somehow or will need to add or subtract shims. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Now the worst problem. The input shaft #8 in the repair manual drawings (part# 160489A)from AGCO parts on line is pretty much shot. The spline is just about completely gone. I'm going to need a new on or at least a good used one. So, where should I be looking? Is this something that AGCO still might have?

When I got my 1555 the pto turned constantly. Most of the pto shims had been removed. I found used ones on ebay, new ones from agco were over 50 dollars. I just loosened bolts that hold shims to see if that was the problem. The I&T manual gives the proper procedure to follow if you need it. Hope this helps. Greg

I just went to Oliver tractor in business and industrial on ebay. In the search box put oliver 1550, there was a pto shaft brand new for 286 dollars.
