Pertronix for 1800

I'm looking into a pertronix ignitor for a Oliver 1800. I have to look it up by the distributer plate number, however the plate on mine is not there with the number. So my question is does anyone know the distributer number( I think it's a delco), or know the correct ignitor part number and has anyone noticed a difference with the kit?

Help us along a little bit: The 1800 A series used the Delco distributor that takes the 2 clips just like an 88. The B & C series tractors use the Delco that has the 2 screw type fastners. My employer has installed several of the elecronic kits so far so good.

Can't help with the number, but I put a kit in my 1600 and it really made a difference. It used to eat points and condensors, even caps. After I put the kit in,I first replaced the cap last year. Lasted 6 or 7 years. Before I couldn't get 20 hours out of a cap.

Don't know why, mom said it always ate distributor parts.

Don, thanks for the reply. Called a local pertronix dealer and
he was able to look it up by tractor and believe it or not he has
a ignitor and flame thrower coil in stock for that tractor.
Hopefully I will get it in soon and let you know my results.
J S- this makes the third or fourth time you've answered my
question with a question.

I had a new coil from AGCO already so I just put in the kit without the coil. Works good for me.

We put one in our Massey 165 last year but that one night need the flame thrower. Just doesn't seem to run quite right yet.

When I put it in my 1550 they told me I didn't need a hot coil just for general use. It's been just fine for a lot of years with the one that's on it.

I figured for the $30 I would get the flame thrower coil too. The old one might have been from 1964 for all I know. Now i have peice of mind knowing the whole ignition system is new. I put a ignitor and flame thrower coil on my v8 pulling tractor and its been great. What was your 1550 doing to make you put the ignitor in it? Incase anyone else is wondering the ignitor II part number is 91163a.

It's got a Mallory distributor on it. It's got a hole in the side with a real fine mesh screen over it. It draws moisture and the points were constantly getting corroded and wearing down. I was having to open them up way more than I wanted to be messing with them.
