Thank you for the quick response. So, if I was to need parts for this tractor are they readily available and I would use DB-880 when ordering parts? I think the Oliver 500 is rather rare in the USA is that correct?

Thanks again.

Quite rare yes. The one in the pictures you linked to makes 3 that I know of. DB 850 not 880,but yes,CaseIH dealers are the place to go for parts for those. Tenneco bought David Brown when they owned Case too. They changed the name to Case, and so on down the line. They were sold as Olivers in the US from 61-63 before they had a dealer network in the US.
Only trouble with restoring the one in your pictures is that being an early one,it most likely has hard to find British thread bolts.

Well, you certainly sound like you know your tractors. I'm relatively new on the tractor scene but have always had a love for them. If I was able to complete a full restoration on this Oliver do you have any guess as to it's value?
I appreciate all the great info and pics!!

The Oliver 500 gas is more rare than the 500 diesel. It is also harder to find parts for. I don't know where you are located but can you find another parts tractor? The serial number should be on a plate on the right side (sitting on the seat) where your right foot would be. Check that and post it. Any new parts would come from the U. K. More questions? They were new with Oliver when I was new with Oliver (1960)

Despite being rare, they don't seem to be super valuable yet. The one in the pictures is for sale in Kansas for $2500. It's not mine, but I downloaded the pictures.

If you restore an old tractor like this, you should do it for the
pleasure of the project. A really enjoyable hobby. Don't expect it
to make money. You will most likely be very disappointed.

I'm a boat guy and every project I do, I do for the love of it. At the same time, I always want to know where my money is going and like to go into any project I do with my eyes wide open. Your advice is good advice, don't get me wrong; but just because a guy wants to know what a project might be worth at the end of it doesn't mean that he's doing it for the wrong reasons.

I don't think this would be a good first project. Parts will be very hard to come by, and the finished product won't be worth any more than a much more common tractor in the same condition.
