880 trim colors?

I have read the forum from front to back before asking a dumb question but I can"t find a positive answer. I have a 1959 880 Oliver diesel. The oval is is missing off of the front. Which one do I need? The white and black one or the one with red in it? Obviously the decals on the side will be bought to match but I can"t figure it out. I am also going to paint the wheels white, hubs, axles, and bolts green. Is there anything else white other than the grill that I need to know about? All help will be appreciated. Thanks, Alan

Can't help you on which oval, but please be sure you paint the wheels and grille Clover White, not white. Not trying to be condescending, but I see you're new on here and you just never know what kind of experience somebody has til they've been here a while.

Absolutely on the paint colors but good call. The entire back half of the tractor is wire wheeled down to bare metal along with all of the components removed and done as well. All primed and most painted. Might get some progress pictures on here before long.

Brad you sound very confident with your red and white answer. Thanks for that. Just curious if you knew what the black and white ovals were for?

The bolts were not painted. They were cadium plated and were not painted. Als ofor a long time I had one of the red ovals off of a 1959 880) on my toolbox. The black decals came out in the winter of 61.

Don't believe everything you read on here.

I know of an 1958 Oliver 550 (smaller engine) and it has the orignal decals on it. The front plastic oval is white with black letters.

Do like someone suggested, talk to lyle.

They likely broke the emblem when the tractor was a few years old ordered a new one and the new emblem came with the black letter. I've heard of somebody ordering a new grill for there bargrill 770 and when the grill came it was a new style checkerboard.

There was an 1800 Checkerboard Wheatland for sale along the road here a few years back. That one had the oval on the grille instead of the checkerboard pattern with the keystone logo. Never quite figured that one out.

Definetly red & white. I have the 59 880 dad bought new and it's got the original plate and it is red and white
