The splines on the chain coupler shaft on the trans side are worn and loose sko a new sprocket will not help with worn splines, any suggestions?

Do like Gary says or you can weld a used gear from the top transmission shaft of any older Oliver tractor. I used half of the main shaft gear or mechanical lift gear from an 88 on my 1550. Then cut the teeth off that gear. Gets it back to good splines.

the best but maybe not the easiest fix is to replace it with a good used or rebuilt input shaft, if the sprockets don't run true it will eat cotter pins and I have seen the chain links swing out and wreck adjacent hyd. lines

Larry"s # is 512-633-5014. Also when I do this I use a clutch shaft out of a 77 or 88 with the same splines to be sure it"s straight, then tach in 4 places so it don"t pull crooked

as long as a person is in it that far wouldn't it be just as well to r&r the input shaft? Putting splines behind the sprocket is going to want to pull the sprocket at an angle once the splines wear a little which they will do as a result of the point of pull not being in line with the centerline of the sprocket, sounds like a band- ade fix to me

Find a" new" to you input shaft thats better than yours or find some shim stock that you can cut to size and tighten up the splines. The coupler must have been loose or a baddly running engine to cause this
