4 digit wheel weights

Right now we have a 1750 in the shop. It is on 15.5 tires. The tractor has the old style weights (put on the normal way)and the weights and the cast centers are painted green and that tractor looks nice with white rims and bright green weights and cast centers!

If you go into the photo adds for Oliver tractors about the 3rd page in you will see a 1950 with them mounted with the dish facing in. Go down a little more and you will see a 1950 mfwd with them mounted with the dish facing out. A different style weight? Just curious.

We used to run our American 80 dished like that to straddle 3, 30" corn rows for spraying. Talk about hard on a front axle pivot.

Well, let's stop and think about it for a minute. When that tractor was new, there weren't a lot of 30" rows around. Almost everyone was on 38" or 40" rows, the wheel centers needed to be dished out to straddle the rows. 99% of the farmers plowed all their land and you had to have the tires set wider to make the plows pull correctly. In the fall of 1971, I worked for a guy with a pair of 4020's, He was on 30" rows. When we finished combining corn and got ready to plow, we had to set the wheels out for plowing. If the tractor hasn't been used for row crop work, it's probably just too much of a pain in the keister to change them over. Just my never to be humble opinion. Chris
