1755 fuel filter

Some 1755 diesels have a fuel filter on the right (as you sit on the seat) side of the engine. It's a rectangular box, either metal or glass.

The NAPA part number for the glass version is FIL 3370

The NAPA part number for the metal version is FIL 3371

Hope that this is helpful to someone. It took me a while to find that second number.

Both are filters.

You'll only find one on any given tractor.

It seems that Oliver used one or the other. What I couldn't find out is the serial number where it changed. The only advice I have for figuring out which one you have is to look at it and maybe tap it gently to see if it's glass or metal.

Early 55 series did not use that square Roosa Master filter set up. There are also applications where there are 2 of the square filters on an engine and one is a water separator and they look like the fuel filter.

The glass in the glass filter is quite thick.  The metal in the metal filter is much thinner, thus you have more filtering area in the metal vs. glass.
Can't remember from my JD days, however the higher HP Deere tractors used the metal filters.  If I recall correctly, you can replace the glass with the metal but can't use glass on metal base because the glass has a projection that prevents it from mounting correctly.

Mine is glass. Local NAPA had to order it; so couldn't replace yet. Light was a little better today; and I noticed a visible "line" in the filter. It was light colored about a fifth of the way up the side; and then went dark. Is that water settled in the filter? I keep my fuel treated with Power Services anti-gel; but the engine has been acting fuel starved lately. That's why I was going to replace the filter (still will); but I'm wondering if I also have a water problem that reached a tipping point.

Either way, a fresh filter can only help.
