Hello purchased oliver 88 or super 88 today. It will need engine work but has been stored inside. Numbers off of the tag on the dash were. 88 2638 followed underneath by 4 502 104. Tractor says super 88 on side panels. Has a single tire front and cast center rear wheels. Has 3 point hitch and dual hydraulics. Looking for help deciding what I have to order correct books. Thanks for your help.

You have a early 1954 fleetline 88.  It was built just before the Super series came out.  Can't decode the Specification number.

You have a 1954 88. It is not a Super 88. The front frame unless it has been changed will not have the pads for drive in equipment. Now on the hydraulic unit. If it came with factory hydraulics it should be a group 2. If installed later a group 3 will be on the tractor The correct parts book will cover both the 88 like you have plus the Super 88. You can order one from the museum in Charles City. I can look up the form number for it tomorrow.

thanks, forgot to mention that the hydraulics look to have electric controls mounted on the steering column??? also noticed that it had an hour meter mounted on the dist. drive. The tractor has disc brakes. More familiar with the red tractor but kinda cool that it is a "54, make good company for the SMTA"s already at home.

Any sugestions on where to find the spec number listing to look at them, tried searching but did not have much luck. Looks like '53 and '54 were kinda odd ball years for oliver info. thanks
