The spindle broke of clean at the inner bearing, my SIL faced it at the break, bored a hole into the face, and machined a stub on a new existing spindle to fit the bored hole. The stub was then Loctited into place. Great job.

Locktite is some good stuff, but I hope if that's all he used it holds up. I'm hopeing at the least it's a tight press fit?

I've done some different spindle repairs myself, but never that kind of repair. I did one for our MF 285 last year that the threads were stripped. I welded them up, then set it up in the machining center and used a program to thread mill new threads onto it. Worked out great.

On spindles for the 1855 the weld that holds the verticle shaft to the forged hub broke several times (different one each time) and I clean up the weld really good, then stick it all back together and weld it up again.

Now we've got a spare in the shop for both tractors, and it doesn't take long at all to switch them if need be.
