77 side shield

I've been looking at the 77 and super 77 and seems like the super 77 I've seen haven't had the side panels covering the engine, did the super not have them? or did they stop putting them on at some serial #? or have I got it all wrong lol?

The supers did not have a side shield that covered the whole engine,

the supers were designed differently than the fleetlines, which involved the open side panels. they were designed like that because the fleetlines and streamlines had a tendency to overheat with the closed panels.

Ok jordan educate me on the different in the Fleetlines and streamlines, I'm guessing that has something to do with different designs.

well the best way to see the difference is to look at a picture of a fleetline 77 and a streamline 70, its kind of hard to describe the difference without it getting confusing, but basically the streamline side panels have the indents like the fleetlines but not as deep and a lot more of them and the front part of the panel is curved not straight like the fleetlines.
