chain coupler

Just thinking out loud here. First of all what size chain is that coupler? Next thought I had was on the 18-1900 tractors I remembered that they used a smaller chain coupler when there is no hydra-power. I don't know if it is still available but I would check into it. Plan "C" Bearing houses that hand double roller chain should be able to make one up for you. Let me more details Wondering minds would like to know. J.

I've been looking for parts for a 1550 and googled the part numbers. I haven't tried ordering any but it seems A&I is making them for sale through ag parts outlets.
Hey John, mine has Hydrapower. Can that coupling be changed without moving the engine forward?

That coupler on his 990 is different than on your 1550. The answer if you mean changing the sprockets, the answer is NO. J.

I was looking a year or so ago for a chain and gears for a 53 - 99 i found that that was like finding a needle in a hay stack with winter mits on. I did however find a nos chain for a super 99 through my local agco dealer here in alberta canada. It was located some place deep south usa. Dunno if its the same as the 990 but i did find that the coupler chain is no longer made. I ended up machining off old gears and shortened both assemblies to accept double row chain as made now and new sprockets. It did work well. Hope this might help. Duane o.

I am a mechanic for a drilling company. Drill rigs use a lot of chain couplings and chain drives. Most sprockets I have seen are made by browning or martin. They should have what you need there or can make it very reasonable and fast. We get all of our chain (weather its single, double, triple etc and half links-master links) from kaman industrial technologys. They have a good website as does martin but am not sure as far as Browning having a website. Kaman sells linkbelt chain along with many other brands. Between them companys you should be able to get what you need pretty easily.
