510 MF 354 to 1850

can the 1850 354 inj. pump drive be put in a 354 out of a 510 as I want to use my rebuilt pump on the replacement engine, what all needs to be switched over? pan, manifolds timing cover, water pump?
 
If the combine is a later engine with the uprated drive that's what you should stay with. The smaller pump drive hub/quill shafts are prone to breaking. Earl Perkins in MF 1100/ 1130 tractors had the same small drive like the 1850 did. Have seen more than one drive hub explode, or the quill shaft break.
 
Do you mean what all has to be switched to put the engine in the 1850?

If that's what you mean,everything but the crank,rods,pistons and head. You have to change the oil pump plumbing,oil filter base and cooler lines,rear side cover,tappet cover,injector lines,all in addition to the pan,front cover,water pump,manifolds,filters etc,etc,etc.
Not to say that it's a hard job,just be ready to pretty much strip it to the bare block.
 
I will strongly agree with the oil pump plumbing part. I did all of the rest listed but forgot that part and wiped the crank bearings, so now I get to replace all the bearings. Got mad and pushed that project to the side for a bit.
 
I feel your pain. I had the crank ground in the original motor in the tractor then put one rod cap on backwards for some stupid reason. Scratched up the crank again. I got in the truck and went straight to Worthington in St Johns and bought a combine engine. The other one's still laying out there with new rings and bearings in it.
 
I never seen in break but we changed one over because the drive twisted and we had more than one that little shaft would do that. That was 35 plus years ago.
 
the only Perkins I have changed pumps on was in 1850's, so the combine pump drive is an updated drive design used on newer engines? The combine was a 1974 and the 1850 was a 67 I tried swapping the pump and found out they were differen't.
