1950 Oliver 77 RC exhaust/intake manifold gaskets

Restoring my first Oliver tractor and it has been fairly vanilla until I took the exhaust/intake valve assembly off. Never have encountered individual gaskets like on this 1950 Oliver 77 RC. Most other six cylinder inline engines use a one piece gasket and all the ports are even across the ports. I cleaned up the ports today the best I could as the exhaust ports had buildup carbon. When I put a straight edge across the ports I found the intake ports are not aligned with the exhaust ports. Is this normal? Are the exhaust and intake gaskets a different size? Normally I mate the exhaust and intake manifolds together and take them to a machine shop and have them milled so they are symmetrical. Before I do this as there is quite a difference I wanted to get some guidance from the Oliver community. I looked at my maintenance books and could not find any instructions on the manifolds. FYI: I had Mike at PoppinJohn refurbish the carb. Mike found an extra port drilled into the carb body. He thought it might at one time been used as an LP tractor. I think it might have been used for propane injection as it was used also as a stock puller. Anyhow, any suggestions would be appreciated.
