24.5 x 32 rims on Super 99, 990 or 995

Has anyone put 24.5 x 32 tires and rims on any of these tractors. Wondering if JD 5020 21 x 32 rims would work?? Any other ideas welcome.
TIA: Curt

No. But I have installed 23.1 X 34 tires on my 990. Believe me, you need to carefully measure before buying the tires. As you can see from the picture of my 990, this appears to be the maximum size you can install when you have the heavy cast rear wheels on your tractor.

I have the same 990 as you. Mine is a 59, I changed both the 1500 lb hubs for ones off the 99 that are only 400 lbs each. Then had 120 lbs extra taken out of the 99 hubs before I installed them. Before the change over tractor weighed 12,800 lbs with fluid in tires. After 99 lighten'd hubs and no fluid weight was 8495. Lost too much so had to add weight until I was at 9992 lbs.
I'm running 18.4 x 34 Goodyears (long bar short bar tread) pressure seems good but just spin out now, and getting beat by any puller with 23* Firestones. I don't think 23.1 will fit my stock rims. If nothing else I'll have to widen them.

Here is a picture of a pull last season. From front of sled I didn't spin very much and had to shut down.

Yes, I think they were about $1,100 each. They were purchased back in 2009, so prices would be much higher today. I pull this tractor in exhibition pulls because it outweighs the antique competition. The engine is rebuilt with a four valve head, high compression pistons, and the block has the larger air ports. I didn't want to make major modifications so as to use it mostly in parade events.

Here is a picture of removing 1500 lb hub. Warmed with propane torch for an hour (could'nt hold bare hand on hub) used 1" grade 8 all thread with a piece of railway rail with 100 ton press. Broke rail so went and got 4" thick plate and was at max of 100 ton press when it finally released. (almost browned my shorts, minie earthquake)It would scare the chit out of most seasoned guys. LOL

So back to what my original question was. Will a 32" rim off the JD 5020 work on the 990 or 99 hubs (both are same diameter) Or is there any other 32" wheel I can buy to fit 24.5 X 32 tires on ???
I'm thinking since I'm all "STOCK" absolutely no hidden mods, I may be able to pull in 3 rd.without spinning out. (different tracks also have to be considered) Generally speaking.

Do your rules allow a 24.5x32 tire? What tractors were beating you and what size 23 degree firestones were they running? Do your rules allow an adjustable hitch? Are they for 1959-older? What do you mean by "lost too much weight and had to add" to get to 9,992#? How do you figure you can run a higher gear with a 24.5x32? The 99/990 uses a single bevel rim, 5020 uses a double bevel rim which will not fit the 990 hub nor will it fit under the fenders. You need more weight transfer to gain traction and also more power, not wider tires. I have pulled with 18.4x34s and 23.1x26s, the 18.4s always do better. The bigger tires float too much and don't bite as well. Get rid of those Goodyear "slip torques" and get some old 18.4x34 23 degree firestones or BFGs. Modify your hitch to the highest and shortest allowed, then do the same engine mods as Richard did to his 990.

Most pulls I go to is more "run what you brung" no obvious "mods" (turbos, etc) as stock as possable. They look the other way when comes to tires. I have been thinking about the hitch!!
32" rim smaller diameter than 34" rim "should" equal smaller tire diameter with my math. Am I wrong ?? or just going wrong direction with my thinking? Do the BFG's really work as good as 23* Firestones. A W9 (dam sure was not stock) with 23* Firestones beat everyone. 830 JD, 600 IH, 650IH, Super 99 and 990. Then at another pull 500 Case (I have 3 of them) beat my 990 and he had 23* Firestones. I've been looking for a 4 valve head just haven't found one yet.
When I took the two 1500 lb hubs off and put hubs that only weighed 240 lbs. 3000 - 480 = 2520 in weight loss plus all the fluid in the tires, and removal of hydraulics = 8480 lbs. so had to add weight to 9992 lbs to run in class. five 8500 to 9999 lbs.

Those long bar short bar good years are your biggest problem, 18.4-34 tires will beat 23.1-26 tires on most tracks, you could also look at 20.8-34 as an option, with your motor I wouldn't go any bigger than that. Bigger injectors would be a good investment. I wouldn't get a 4 valve head without 18.7 compression ratio pistons and liners with the bigger ports.

Thanks for feedback Gordey. I think I'll sell my Goodyears to my brother he will be pulling in the same class. LOL
The injectors are they the N?? ones.

Lee: What kind of hubs do you have? Looks like you are running a steel wheel with center bolts to a hub??

A friend of mine made the hubs for me, they weigh around 35 lbs each. This is early 99 with the light front frame. Tires are 18.4 x 38 BFG.

I found a deal on brand new set of 20.8 x 34 Firestone 23* $820. Cdn.
Now I'm thinking a little wider rim. any ideas where I can get as I don't want to modify my stock ones. I want to keep them stock.
