Last summer noticed engine oil film in coolant when checking coolant at radiator cap. As time progressed it bagan to use more oil, 1 qt more or less on a 4-5 hr use. 7ft moco, rd baler and 3 pt herb sprayer. Now in winter use to feed rd bales. Today took off ex man., no oil residue. took off in man., oil residue in #5&6 int port. Valve adj ok. Remove cyl head, compression leakage around #6 fire ring. Valves and rings redone about 900 hrs ago, valves and seats ok. Noticed a little end play in crankshaft, seems more than normal. where is oil going.

When you had the manifolds off did you turn the engine over and see if the valve stems were wet with oil? What kind of valve seals are on the engine? Remember those intake valves have rotators on them Did you do a cylinder leak down test?

No did not tilt head. Don't know about seals had a machine shop do head, guides valves and seats. Did not do leakdown test, although tractor starts good cold or hot, all ex man runners warm up equally on cold start and idles fine. I have a Oliver brand head gskt and valve seals on the way.
